Oxandrolone – also known as Oxandrolone is a drug used to regain weight or facilitate weight gain. It can inhibit protein catabolism, which is often caused by long-term corticosteroid treatment. What is oxandrolone? When and to whom is it recommended? What are the side effects and contraindications?

Oxandrolone – what is it?

Oxandrolone is an oral drug derived from dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It is a drug recommended by doctors as an aid to prevent muscle catabolism as a result of hypermetabolism and patients with severe burns, as well as to relieve bone pain caused by osteoporosis and to facilitate the growth of girls with Turner syndrome. It is also recommended for HIV patients, after complex surgery, those suffering from chronic diseases, chronic infectious diseases and patients during or after chemotherapy. It is also used by bodybuilders and athletes as an additive to cycles. The uses of oxandrolone in medicine and in sports are quite different.

Oxandrolone in athletes (Oxe)

As we mentioned Oxandrolone is a drug popular among athletes. Why? It protects against loss of lean body mass – that is, catabolism, without simultaneously closing the epiphyses of the bones. That’s why it is mainly used by bodybuilders. It contains more anabolic than androgenic characteristics, so it is quite safe. Oxe – is the common name for this steroid, which also goes by the name Anavar. It stimulates phosphocreatine synthesis in muscle cells, and therefore has the ability to accelerate ATP recovery and growth. Taking this steroid therefore results in strength gains. In addition, it accelerates the process of protein synthesis – it is mild in action, so it is recommended primarily for a cycle for strength and sculpting. So what about a cycle for mass? This is possible when combining Oxandrolone with Testosterone. Oxandrolone is non-toxic and does not interfere with the hypothalamic-pituitary-nucleus system. Its use during a reduction diet results in faster and more effective fat burning. The effect persists for a long time after stopping taking the steroid. Oxandrolone is safe and also suitable for women.

Oxandrolone in children and teenagers

According to a study by U.S. researchers, the supplement’s effect on children and adolescents has been demonstrated. The treatment lasted a year and was carried out on patients aged: a few months to 18 years. The placebo group included 152 people, while the Oxandrolone group included 70 people. 0.1 mg per kilogram of body weight was administered, twice a day. Resting energy expenditure (REE), height, body weight, muscle strength, bone mineral content, heart rate, effects on sexual and sexual maturation, and liver hormones and enzymes were monitored. A 12-week exercise program was used for some patients discharged from the hospital. According to the findings, Oxandrolone reduced resting energy expenditure and blood pressure/heart rate, increased IGF – 1 levels (for the first year after the burn), and, when combined with exercise, affected muscle growth and strength. Increases in body and bone mineral content were also observed compared to the control group. No side effects were observed.

Oxandrolone – how to dose?

How to use this supplement? Oxandrolom has an eight-hour half-life. Therefore, it is advisable to take it in the morning and in the second half of the day. The daily recommended dose is two or three times, which will help maintain a stable concentration of the active substance in the body. Oxandrolone comes in tablet form with dosages of: 5 mg, 10 mg, 50 mg. The dose for an adult is 20 to 40 mg per day. Smaller doses are prescribed for teenagers. Of course, this applies to patients who have been prescribed the drug by a doctor. In the case of athletes, it looks different. For men, the suggested dose is 40-80 mg per day, while for women it is 10-25 mg per day. Since this anabolic steroid is a relatively safe agent, it can be used for a longer period of time, although the recommended maximum cycle is 6 weeks to 8 weeks.
